Wet Sandblasting – Fundamentals and Benefits

Updated: Aug 4

Nowadays, Wet Sandblasting by high pressure water jet pumps has gained wide acceptance in the field of surface preparation as well as in paint removal and rust removal. In Wet Sandblasting, an abrasive material is mixed with the water jet to create an abrasive spray. This abrasive spray is blasted onto the surface, removing small fragments of undesired coating, corrosion, or other undesirable elements to reveal the desired metal finish, which is ideal for re coating.

For commercial or industrial users that face a variety of power washing and sandblasting applications, the ideal machines are power washers with Wet Sandblaster Kits. The accessories that are usually included in a wet sand blasting kit include high pressure cleaning nozzles, sandblasting attachments, high pressure hose pipes, safety valves, unloader valves, rigid lanes, pressure guns, supplied by PressureJet Systems have gained enormous success.

Understanding the mechanism of Wet Sandblasting Machine:

The first one has to start the high-pressure system and adjust the water flow and system pressure with your nozzle selection, pump rpm, and regulating unloaded setting. To ensure that the system is working properly, pull the trigger on the gun.Place the sand induction probe in the sand supply container. With the trigger on the gun open, adjust the small valve on the mixing head.

The adjustment establishes a vacuum in the sand hose line and initiates sand flow. Sand is brought into the system directly from a container via the sand point. The head features suction capabilities to then draw the sand through the sand pickup tube into the head. The sand is then mixed with high-pressured water in the head.

The resulting mixture of sand and water is sprayed across surfaces at high pressure levels through the nozzle. When the trigger is pulled and the water sandblaster operation begins, the Pressure Washer Sandblaster should be approximately 12 to 15 inches away from the work surface.

The benefits of using the Wet Sandblasting method include:

  • Extremely fine media can be used.

  • Media impregnation into the substrate is not possible.

  • Deeply cleaning irregular surfaces

  • No heat warping with thin parts.
